Paper Plates (2008):
Munich, summer of 2008 was all about celebrating.
Celebrate what? Well, Munich’s 850th and the Academy of Fine Arts 200th anniversaries.

For every good celebration delicious food always proved to be most important.
"Paper Plates" however does not focus on the delicacies but on the dinnerware used: 200 cheap paper plates were embroidered by hand. The motif chosen was of course the Academy’s official logo supplemented by the number 200, resembling the bicentennial.
Time-consuming and laborious in its production, the plate is thrashed right after one-time use. Decadence and the fast pace of daily life are subjects of this work.
The action took place at the restaurant "Goldene Bar", Haus der Kunst Munich, supporting the exhibition "Kraftprobe. 200 Jahre Kunstakademie München"(30.05.2008-31.08.2008).
Cake and snacks ordered by customers were randomly handed out either on normal plates or on 1 of 200 embroidered paper plates.
